This beaver uses a plunger for building his unique ’dams’

Here’s Beave’s story: Beave was three weeks old when he was brought to me. I am a licensed rehabber. A lady called me one day and said that she had found a beaver on the side of the road. The lady brought him to me to be rehabbed. It was a big decision for me because the commitment to a beaver is two years unlike our other animals. He was in a good condition, which leads me to believe that his parents probably got killed. For a baby beaver, practicing damming is very important. So, as a rehabbed beaver, Beave will dam inside using random household objects. The one object that Beave has taken a fascination to his plungers. When he’s outdoors in his pond, he does work on damming with sticks, logs, twigs, mud, and other items that he finds around the pond. It is very important that Beav learns these instincts, so when he’s returned to the wild, he will understand how to dam properly. Because beavers are so social with their immediate family members, I do a lot of socializing
