A path to net zero, and a stable temperature anomaly. This is one story of how we did it. Watch exclusive making-of content on Nebula: In this documentary I present a fictional, optimistic account of the 21st century, told retrospectively from the year 2100. This isn’t trying to depict the “best case scenario”, but one of the possible, mostly positive versions of the century we are all about to live through. A century in which we “won” and overcame climate change. Hopefully it gives you an idea of what is to come, and what the key building blocks to getting to net zero emissions will likely be. Important note: this video uses a slightly different temperature timeseries than previous videos in this series. The previous timeseries was of land-based temperature changes, while to fit more in line with the climate literature, this video uses land and sea temperature anomalies. They come from two sources. Data from 1750-1850 is from the PAGES2k Consortium reconstruction () (median of ensemble) while data from 1850 to 2022 is from NOAAGlobalTemp dataset ().
