Is ’Devil May Cry 2’ Trash or Treasure?

Infamously one of the most disappointing sequels in all of gaming, and the worst Devil May Cry game so far. After the success of the first one, what started off as excitement for the second game turned into a mixture of negative feelings. What did it do though to receive such backlash?
