Cesare & Abelard & Heloise

While watching this scene, immediately this piece came to mind and it amazed me how that one shot, without any dialogue at all, said so much. It’s probably my favourite moment between Lucrezia and Cesare because it shows how much he loves and cares for her as well as how he worries for her in her marriage to such a horrible man as Sforza. It also shows Niel Jordan’s style as a director in which even the most silent and subtle moments can say so much. On top of that, Francois Arnaud and Holiday Grainger are both brilliant in this show and their chemistry is amazing. Naturally, I had to tribute to the love between them. It could be romantic or sibling love, but it is love nonetheless. That said, this video is just a small reflection of what I think Cesare was thinking in this scene. He loves his sister more than anything and reflects on the memories that he has of her sweet nature and their relationship, but he knows that she’s about to be destroyed by her marriage to Sforza. FA
