“Radar Love“ is a song by Dutch rock band Golden Earring, written by singer Barry Hay and guitarist George Kooymans. It is their biggest international hit untill today and a signature song in their repertoire. It appeared on their 1973 gold album ’Moontan’. The single version of “Radar Love“ reached the top of the Dutch charts 50 years ago: In the Dutch Top 40 it reached # 1 on 15 september 1973 and in the Dutch Top 30 it reached # 1 one week earlier, on 8 september 1973. It kept the number one position for four weeks. Golden Earring toured frequently in the USA. Consequently ‘Radar Love’ reached #10 on the Cash Box Top 100 and #13 in Billboard in the United States. It also hit the Top 10 in many countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, and Spain. During concerts the band effortlessly stretches the song to fifteen minutes with the band members excelling in bass, guitar and drum solos respectively, with drummer Cesar Zuiderwijk jumping over his drum set. Golden Earring is a Dutch rock band, founded in 1961 in The Hague as The Golden Earrings. They achieved worldwide fame with their international hit songs “Radar Love“ in 1973, “Twilight Zone“ in 1982, and “When the Lady Smiles“ in 1984. During their career they had nearly 30 top-ten singles on the Dutch charts; over the years they produced 26 studio albums. Golden Earring always had the same line-up since the early seventies: Barry Hay, vocals, George Kooymans, guitar, Rinus Gerritsen, bass and Cesar Zuiderwijk, drums.
