Matt Monro (1 December 1930 -- 7 February 1985) was an English singer who became one of the most popular entertainers on the international music scene during the 1960’s. The Italian Job is a 1969 British caper film, written by Troy Kennedy Martin, produced by Michael Deeley and directed by Peter Collinson. It’s soundtrack was composed by Quincy Jones. Quincy Jones (better-known for his production of several Michael Jackson records, and has worked with stars such as Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald) was handed the task of producing the music score for The Italian Job as director Peter Collinson wanted to give the pennyless musician a chance.
