Glück auf mein Sachsenland [Anthem of Saxony][instrumental]

A work called Sachsenlied developed from a cantata composed in 1841 by Ernst Julius Otto. The original text was written by the Dresden pastor Maximilian Hallbauer. It appeared in 1842 in soldier songs for the Saxon army. As “the most beautiful country in German districts“ it quickly became popular as a Heimatlied and was eventually taken over by other countries and regions (Baden, Bavaria, Pfalz, Württemberg). Regionally known today is still the Baden local variation (Badnerlied).
