10bit vs 8bit colour. When NOT to use 8bit, and why.

10 bit colour for video, do you need it? Is 10bit better than 8bit? And which picture profiles work well in 8bit? Here is some comparisons that hopefully demonstrate where 10bit really pulls ahead of 8bit, and which picture profiles really prefer 10bit. These tests are with the Panasonic GH5, 4K 10bit vs 4K 8bit, in V-LogL, which especially prefers 10bit format, here I show why. Also I look at Sony a7iii 8bit S-Log2 vs S-Log3, and explain why I don’t recommend S-Log3 for 8bit recording.
