Ten years into the war, Syrian people are trying to recreate an everyday life for themselves and their children. Although half the country’s schools have been destroyed, teachers are eager to welcome the children of war in the remaining ones. Many of them don’t even remember a peaceful life, but Leith was five when his whole family was killed before his eyes. He remembers the day as vividly as if it were yesterday. He survived thanks to his father, who smeared him with blood so that terrorists would think he was dead. After spending three days surrounded by the bodies of his loved ones, he was captured by terrorists and held hostage for two months. RT journalist Maria Finoshina filmed Leith when he was liberated.
