ZUI ZUI ZUKKOROBASHI by Elena Moon Park and Friends

Illustration & Animation by Jordan Young, Fort Psych Media & Events This is one of my favorite “nonsense” songs, which I recorded for my album Rabbit Days and Dumplings. Hailing from Japan, this song accompanies a game that kids can play, based on the rhyme. The rhyme features some made-up words that are really fun to say (zui zui zukkorobashi!), something about a tea urn tumbling, a mouse in a rice basket that squeaks (chu! chu! chu!), and a mother and father trying to figure out who broke a rice bowl. The meaning is a mystery, but the song is pure joy. This video, made by illustrator and animator Jordan Young, captures the playfulness and mystery of the song. Thanks to Jordan for embracing the song and bringing it to life with these lovable characters! Check out his work: More about Rabbit Days and Dumplings: A loose translation of the lyrics: zui zui zukkorobashi sesame miso zui tea urn tumbles toppinshan (sound effect for breaking) if you can run away (sound effect for running away) the mouse in the rice basket eats the rice, squeaks, squeak, squeak, squeak! father tries calling, mother tries calling, who is the one around the well who broke the rice bowl?
