Now available on DVD and Blu-ray: “Nickel Plate Road 765 - Lima Superpower in the Lehigh Valley“ To order, please visit my website at: #765-lehigh In August of 2015, Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 #765 returned to Allentown, PA for the first time since 1988 when she was the main attraction of the NRHS convention in New Jersey. Pulling 2 days of Allentown to Pittston excursions, this was the first time she ran through the Lehigh River Gorge and passed through Jim Thorpe, PA (formerly Mauch Chunk) on the former Jersey Central & Lehigh Valley mainlines. Using a combination of Norfolk Southern and Reading & Northern trackage, 765 tackled this mountainous line unassisted, putting on a spectacular show in the process and retracing some of the famed excursions sister engine #759 pulled in the 60s and 70s for the High Iron Co.
