Jane Powell was an Old Hollywood actress that is best known for portraying the character of Milly in the film Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Jane was ushered into the world of entertainment by her parents, who enrolled the young star in dancing lessons at the tender young age of only two years old. Her debut came in the feature film Song of the Open Road, and that film is also where Jane got her famous stage name. Before appearing in Song of the Open Road, Jane had been known by her birth name: Suzanne Burce. In Song of the Open Road, the young star played a character by the name of Jane Powell, and the name simply stuck. After her appearance in Song of the Open Road, Jane went on to appear in many more films for MGM. In addition to Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Jane was also given a memorable role alongside Fred Astaire in the 1951 film Royal Wedding. Starting in the 1970s, Jane began appearing more and more on the stage, as well as on various television programs. In 2003, Jane gave up acting, and she recently passed away at the age of 92.
