One of a series of short films produced in 1969 by Charles Grinker and Mert Koplin, “Which Way USA -- Black Views on Race“ provided brief portraits of many African American leaders including Martin Luther King, Cassius Clay, Malcolm X, Bobby Seale, and others. This episode features singer James Brown, the “Godfather of Soul“ and progenitor of funk music, who was also a well-known record producer, and bandleader. James Brown was one of the first ten inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.
