Tense! 2 China jets shoot-down US P-8 aircraft conducting unsafe maneuver in Taiwan strait

The United States and China are on high alert after two Chinese fighter jets attacked a US Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft over the Taiwan Strait on Tuesday. The Chinese jets also released flares and fired “chaff“ (a cloud of metal strips that can interfere with radar) in the vicinity of the P-8A. The US Navy said that the Chinese jets conducted “unsafe and unprofessional“ maneuvers, including flying within 100 feet of the American plane.
