The Cave - An Adaptation of Plato’s Allegory in Clay

Bullhead Entertainment produced the claymation, based off of Plato’s Cave allegory. Notable changes from Plato’s original: in the claymation, the producers made the figures walking across the walkway seem as if they were simply carrying goods/products whose shadows are unintentional by-products of a nearby fire, while in the original, the figures on the walkway are puppeteers, whose shadows are intentionally controlled and understood to be creating scenes for the cave’s prisoners. While animation is visually well-done, it changes an important concept in Plato’s original allegory.
