Indian dance group MAYURI - Ranjha

Indian Dance Group MAYURI - Ranjha There is a state in India called Punjab. Some centuries ago a love story happened there, and the people of India are still singing songs about it. A girl named Heer and a lad named Ranjha fell in love with each other. But they belonged to feuding families and the lovers were not destined to be together. Dancing among her friends Heer sings: “The whole world is on the one bank, and Ranjha is on the other. A river of fire lies in between, and I have drowned the boat of my heart there. Saying Ranjha’s name again and again, Heer has gone mad, I can’t recognize the day from the night... when should I light up the lamp and when should I blow it out? I either burn my finger or lose my ring... Only God knows where my mind is... May no one call me Heer from today - I am Ranjha, saying Ranjha’s name again and again Heer has gone mad“.
