When Is World Teachers Day?

World Teachers Day If you have to put someone on a pedestal, put teachers. They are society’s heroes. A quote is from Guy Kawasaki, marketing specialist, author, and venture capitalist. That statement reinforces the importance of teachers to society as a whole. Without teachers and their drive to educate the next generation, we would never move forward. In 1994, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, or UNESCO, launched a global event to be recognized and celebrated every October 5th, called World’s Teacher Day. World Teachers’ Day is held on the anniversary of the 1966 UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers around the world. It set the standards addressing the rights and responsibilities of teachers and has been considered crucial in promoting the importance of teachers’ status and quality education. The goal of World Teachers’ Day is to aim focus on appreciating, assessing, and improving the educators of the world, and to progress the calling forward. So next October 5th, remember your favorite teacher, or an educator in your life. It can be as simple as writing a heartfelt thank you card, but those simple acts can go a long way in showing your appreciation. And that’s a quick lesson on today in history.
