Yugoslavia, a nation comprised of 6 republics and 24 ethic groups is starting to break apart. Two Yugoslav republics, Slovenia and Croatia, have declared their independence. Hundreds of tanks and thousands of soldiers of the Yugoslav army rolled out of the Yugoslav capital of Belgrade to head toward the breakaway republics to force end their independence movement. Slovenians have established roadblocks and barricades to begin guerrilla fighting against the Yugoslav military. National army troops are fighting with Slovenian militia. Yugoslavian military is committed to using force to maintain the nation. Slovenian president says that Slovenia is like David and Yugoslavia is like Goliath. US Sec of State James Baker says that Yugoslavia may be on the brink of a civl war and blames the Yugoslav army is acting outside of political control and acting on their own.
