Der Geher in Hamburg: Dulsberg

I am Der Geher and today I’m walking through Dulsberg. From the station Friedrichsberg it goes along the Dithmarscher street to the Straßburger street. Here the arcade houses and the Friedrichs-Naumann-Hof with the Dancing Girls by Martin Irwahn follow. The path ends at the station Alter Teichweg. Dulsberg is one of the smallest districts and was created when Barmbek was divided into three parts in 1951. Characteristic here are the clinker brick buildings initiated by Fritz Schumacher in the 1920s. The buildings were almost completely destroyed during the war, but were rebuilt according to old plans. In some cases, small apartments were combined. Today, the district is popular with students because of its transportation links and comparatively inexpensive housing. About 17,000 citizens live here.
