A Study Of Ostriches (1967)

Brazil. Various shots of horsemen on the pampas of Brazil rounding up ostriches. When they catch them they strip them off some of their feathers and release them (this section was taken from cinemascope film and has cut off at top and bottom of frame). MS. Two ostriches together. MLS. Ostrich eggs amongst the grass, the father ostrich makes the nest and rolls the eggs into it. He then proceeds to sit on the eggs for hatching. Various shots of the father as he protects the eggs strongly. If other ostriches come near, he sticks his neck out angrily. He also gets up and chases a man away. LS. The male ostrich leaves the eggs, has some food and then returns to them. LS. The young chicken ostriches with the male standing guard over them, he still protects them. CU. A tray of ostrich eggs in an incubator at the zoo, they can be studied closer this way.
