Tár - Agnes Obel - Fuel to Fire - music video

//////// I will only have words of praise for this film for several reasons. First of all, starting from an objective perspective, the film has a fantastic script. In the last 10 years, I haven’t seen any movies with a script that respects the audience and goes only on suggestion. Each character has the substance of a real person, but it’s Lydia who drives the film and uncovers the layers of her character essence, and that’s brilliantly done by director Todd Field. I listened to many discussions in which the actors and the director talked about the message of the film and said that it is a parable about power, who holds it and what the people around do with that person, if they also use it or not and how. The cinematography supports this whole idea and the atmosphere of the film, it lets you look in detail at those scenes with a very clean scandinavian aesthetic, just to help you notice the small details. The music, the actors, the editing and especially the story are extremely well done (the scene with the students at Juiliard which is one take and is so long and is so coherent and the lines are fantastic). Although many people say that the first hour is difficult, that it is too slow and you don’t understand anything at the beginning, I recommend you try to get over that hour and see it to the end. You will not regret. Now, looking at things subjectively, this movie is one of my all-time favorites because it’s extremely relevant to me. In the past, I experienced this abuse that is portrayed in the film. That year, when that person was my teacher, was the most exhausting year for my psyche. I managed to hold out, but I paid the price in grades and the way she made fun of my work after she realized I was refusing her. At the end of the mentorship, I was used to crying, nervous breakdowns, confusion as to whether I was the problem and many questions about what was really happening because it is not easy to see everything clearly when a person of this type manipulates you for the first time. It’s such a vicious and infected system that totally degrades you if you resist. The portrait of this menthor through Lydia is very well done, in my case the similarities are multiple and seeing another example helped me look much more clearly at the events that happened to me. ///////// Movie: Tár (2022) Song: Fuel to Fire by Agnes Obel /// LYRICS /// Do you want me on your mind or do you want me to go on I might be yours as sure as I can say Be gone be faraway Roses on parade, they follow you around Upon your shore as sure as I can say Be gone be faraway Like fuel to fire Into the town we go, into your hideaway Where the towers grow, gone to be faraway Sing quietly along Pious words to cry into the under Upon your shore as sure as I can say Be gone be faraway Oh what a day to choose Torn by the hours All that I say to you Is like fuel to fire Into the town we go, into your hideaway Where the towers grow, gone to be faraway Never do we know, never do they give away Where the towers grow, only you will hear them say Sing quietly along Sing quietly along #CateBlanchett #Tár #ToddField #AgnesObel
