On this day in 2013, Manchester City beat Fulham in a six-goal thriller at Craven Cottage. Having led by two goals at half-time, Manuel Pellegrini’s side surrendered our lead after the break before scoring twice in the final 12 minutes to move up to second in the Premier League table. City opened the scoring when Yaya Toure curled an 18-yard free-kick in off the underside of the bar and the visitors further strengthened our grip in the game when Vincent Kompany stabbed home close-range minutes before half-time. Kieran Richardson finished off a counter-attack to pull one back for Fulham, who levelled when Kompany sliced an attempted clearance into his own net. A slide rule David Silva pass allowed Jesus Navas to restore City’s lead with a low drive between Maarten Stekelenburg’s legs and the James Milner wrapped up the points for Pellegrini’s men when he converted Alvaro Negredo’s sumptuous outside of the boot cross at the far post.
