Young Dog Escorts (1957)

Penge, South London. M/S of French windows and an overgrown garden at the back of a school. A group of scruffy kids charge excitedly out of the doors past the camera. M/S of the group of kids running up a suburban street and through the front gate of one of the houses. M/S of the kids joining a larger group crowded around the front door steps of a Victorian terrace house. C/U of a hand written sign on the front door which reads: ’Next session for taking dogs for a walk 2pm’. M/S of the door opening and all the kids rushing in. The house owner, Graham Beagley, looks after unwanted pets and runs the ’Find A Dog A Home’ scheme. He does not have time to exercise all the dogs so he gets local children to help. M/S of a row of ramshackle kennels with corrugated iron roofs. Dogs of different sizes are tied outside the kennels. The kids run down the path to the dogs. The children take a dog each and release their leads. M/S of two little girls fussing over two Afghan hounds. C/U of a little girl,
