How to Draw Flowers | Calla Lily Pencil Drawing

For this exercise I chose to draw a Calla Lily. I first lightly sketch out a diagonal line and then draw a curve that swings up towards the top of the diagonal line and then I draw two curves on the right side that taper off to a point on the left side. I then continue to draw in the rest of the flower. Once I’m happy with the general layout I begin to apply shading with the outside of the pencil. I block in darkest tones, mid tones and lightest tones but I gradually build up the mid and dark tones throughout the drawing process. I finish off by shading in the stem.
