IEVA’S POLKA – LYRICS TUTORIAL 6

This is the sixth tutorial of Ieva’s polka lyrics. It’s the last verse of those that Eino Kettunen originally wrote. I’d like to remind you, that my translations are not exhaustive, but give an idea of the meaning of the words. The story is told in a humorous and down to earth style. And again, this text is written in Savo dialect which is very difficult to translate unambiguously. :-) VERSE 6 – THE STORY: The lad keeps telling Ieva’s Mom in different ways basically that he’s not going to give up Ieva. And that the mother can go from west to east (not literally) but he’s still keeping his girl. And he’s saying that he doesn’t bother being too modest when he’s dancing all over the floor. Then comes again the chorus which doesn’t mean anything except the last word would be something like slowly or little by little. Accurate timestamps for each verse: 1 - 5:04 2 - 5:40 3 - 6:14 4 - 6:45 5 - 7:16 6 - 7:43
