Brand new protoplanet! observed orbiting in the protoplanetary disc around the young star HD 169142

Planet is seen in 3 different images spanning four years of observations. The motion is consistent with orbital motion around a solar mass star at 37 times the earth-Sun distance from the central protostar. Colours suggest a Jupiter-mass planet still embedded in a smudge of dust that reflects scattered starlight. This is a really newborn planet still orbiting in its birth environment!
