Wet Weather Bicycle Clean Up

Tips on how to clean your bike after rain or riding in wet conditions. This is important because bike care after rain will keep your bicycle, in top performance, prevent rust of housing and wheels, and prolong the life of your bicycle components whether you are cycling on a road bike, mountain bike, cyclecross or trail bike. Cleaning involves wiping down the frame, brake, front and back tire, drive train including cassette, pulley wheels, chain rings and chain. Use some ethyl (rubbing) alcohol on your wheel rims to remove grim which would interfere with braking. Place a biodegradable solvent on a piece of scrape cloth and wipe down the chain. Use the cloth like a “floss“ to wipe between the cogs of the cassette. Finally, lube the chain and wipe off the excess lubricant. This bike maintenance after rain will keep your bike in top notch shape when riding.
