Quake Demo: Thresh vs MikeJ oldschool Duel 1997

Here is a nice practice match between Quake Legend Dennis “Thresh“ Fong and MakeJ. Game: Quake Map: DM6 “The Dark Zone“ Demo date: The demo was downloaded from here: (Link removed because it was no longer working - the filename was ““) Here is a description of this demo from the site: “The demo was recorded at 4 a.m. in April 1997. Thresh declined to play MikeJ on about 6 servers because Mikej’s ping was slightly lower on each one and also refused to let any spectators watch. MikeJ finally gave up and told Thresh to pick any server he wanted. Thresh (as always) plays a smart match against a pretty good player (who has since gotten much better) to win the match. The final score isn’t very indicative of how well the game was played by both players.“ 1. The client used is called FTE and it was downloaded from here: (Warning it could trigger your antivirus) (I did not get any viruses and everything worked after I downloaded or ) 2. The effects used are from this forum post: 3. The HQ Textures and HUD elements are downloaded from here: (just put the .pk3’s in “Quake/id1“ 4. The teleporter effect can be activated with this command in the console “r_telestyle 3“ The demo is super old, but I like seeing ThresH play and I wanted to experiment with a new client for oldschool demos.
