Bloch - Schelomo: Rhapsodie Hébraïque - Dane Johansen, Cello

Schelomo: Rhapsodie Hébraïque for Violoncello and Orchestra was the final work of composer Ernest Bloch’s “Jewish Cycle.“ Schelomo, which was written in 1915 to 1916 was premiered on May 13, 1917, by cellist Hans Kindler. Artur Bodanzky conducted the concert, which took place in Carnegie Hall. In this recording, cellist Dane Johansen performs in a live concert with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra directed by Frederick Chaslin at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
