Losing one of my Giant legs: The FULL Documentary | A True Story

Thirty-six year old Mandy Sellars from Accrington in Lancashire suffers from a condition so rare that despite undergoing many tests, doctors have not yet been able to make a firm diagnosis.  Mandy was born with legs which were double the normal size and since birth, they have continued to grow. Doctors do not know why, and are unable to stop it happening, although as part of this documentary, Dr. Semple from Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust does genetic tests which may one day result in a cure. He is also able to prove Mandy’s legs are starving her upper body of fat and that above the waist, she is under weight. A year ago, Mandy developed a fatal infection in her left foot and had to undergo life saving surgery, which has resulted in her left leg being amputated just above the knee.  Mandy then faced the most difficult challenge of her life, as she needed to learn to walk with a specially designed prosthetic leg. Produced by Nine Lives media in 2010 for Channel 5. #atruestory #Documentary #GiantLeg
