Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge Inauguration – Luxembourg (1966)

On 24 October 1966, Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg and his wife, Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte, inaugurated the Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge. This monument was built in honor of the French Statesman Robert Schuman, one of the tireless contributors to the European idea. The Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge connects the Avenue , Kirchberg, Boulevard Robert-Schuman, and Limpertsberg. It allows National 51 and the Luxembourg tramway to cross the Alzette Valley. Therefore, it is the main road that links the city center, the Ville-Haute, to Kirchberg, the district of the European institutions. R. Schuman was from Lorraine and trained as a lawyer. He contributed to the negotiations of the Treaties of Paris and Rome. He created the European Coal and Steel Community, the European Economic Community, and the European Atomic Energy Community.
