Few people know that the author of the song Caruso is Lucio Dalla.
Singer-songwriter Lucho Dalla dedicated the song to the famous Italian tenor Enrico Caruso. The poem romanticizes the last days of Caruso’s life, which he spent in the city of Sorrento, near Naples.
Caruso had a hard life. He gained fame in America, while in his native Italy he did not find the understanding of opera houses.
The chorus of the song is actually part of the Neapolitan song “Dicitencello vuje“ and is written in the Neapolitan dialect.
The official music video for the song was shot by Lucho Dalla at the Hotel Vesuvio where Enrico Caruso died.
