Single album band from Stockport, Cheshire, active 1965-1973, 1981 and 1998. Previously called The Young Contemporaries Jugband, then they changed their name to The Purple Gang (“in honor“ of the famous Chicago murder gang of the 20s of the 20th century). The famous producer Joe Boyd became interested in them, who agreed to help the group record the first single and then the album. The group moved to London. The recording took place at the same time as the recording of Pink Floyd’s first single...
