The Execution Of The Female Guard Of Stutthof Concentration Camp

Throughout the Second World War, there were many female guards who worked inside of concentration camps. One of the most brutal sites was Stutthof Concentration Camp, and here there were a number of women from the local area who were recruited to work there. One young woman was Elisabeth Becker who trained as a female guard, and at the end of World War 2 she would be placed on trial for her involvement in war crimes and crimes against humanity. Becker was known for being involved in the selections of prisoners who would be then sent to the gas chambers. But Elisabeth Becker was 22 years old when she was executed. Her execution took place in front of 200,000 people inside of Gdansk on a huge hill on large sets of gallows. The former guards of Stutthof who had inflicted such suffering and brutality were then executed on this large hill in front of a massive crowd.
