Ferrari 499P LMH Testing at Imola ahead of the 2024 WEC Italian round!

Last November Ferrari AF Corse and BMW Team WRT made a two-days collective test at Imola Circuit with their Hypercar-class contenders ahead of the 2024 season, during which the Italian track will host a round of the FIA WEC (World Endurance Championship). Ferrari was there with one of their 499P, a car that already showed its true potential last season, which will become three in 2024 with the addition of No. 83 driven by Robert Kubica, Robert Shwartzman and Ye Yifei. The crews of the other two cars will remain unchanged as for 2023: No. 50 will be driven by Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen while on the No. 51 there will be Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi. The Ferrari 499P has been designed under the LMH (Le Mans Hypercar) rules, which consist in prototypes designed from the ground-up with optional hybrid power. Together with the LMDh (Le Mans Daytona h) cars, prototypes based on a shared structure with mandatory hybrid power, both will be raced for the overall victory in a single ’’Hypercar’’ class both at the Le Mans 24h and in the FIA WEC. The 499P has semi-permanent all-wheel drive: in fact it’s powered by a 2,992 cc, twin-turbocharged V6 engine producing around 670 hp on the rear wheels plus a bespoke, high performance 200kW (270 hp) electric motor on the fronts. As required by the regulation (but adjusted from race to race by the Balance of Performance), the maximum power is set to approx 680 hp/500 kW in total, so the on-board electronics manage the power level in all circumstances, using the hybrid “boost“ starting from a regulated speed (which was set at 190 km/h for the 499P for the last part of the 2023 season). #Ferrari499P #499P #WECImola ------------------------------------------------------ I have to thank my friends and youtubers @Italiansupercarvideo and @NM2255 for the great collaboration done.
