Diving into the lore behind the mysterious beings known as Guild Navigators, how they make it possible for FTL space travel to be safe. I talk about their stages and the evolution they must undergo in order to advance to the highest ranks of the Spacing Guild. I also discuss the appearance of the Guild Navigator (Edric) in David Lynch’s Dune (1984) the Dune miniseries and the Children of Dune miniseries and how these designs differ and even possibly influenced Frank Herbert in his later work.
