the lion and fox (séadnadh mór)

- The lion and fox by Tadgh Dall Ó Huiggín (1588AD), was written about his Patron Niall McGuire. This satire tells the story of the aged lion who invites the other animals to his cave. The fox would rather not go in because he sees the tracks of many animals entering the Lion’s cave but none coming out. A clever commentary on political duplicity and Anglo-Gaelic relations before the nine years’ war.
