Ellen Foley (June 5, 1951 - St. Louis) is an American singer and actress. As a singer she has made four solo albums, but is best known for her collaboration with other artists, of whom Meat Loaf is probably the best known. Her breakthrough came in late 1977 with the duet ’Paradise by the Dashboard Light’ with Meat Loaf on his album ’Bat Out of Hell’. Her debut album ’Night Out’ was released in 1979, and is also her best known album. It includes the hit singles ’We Belong to the Night’ and ’What’s a Matter Baby’. The album was produced by Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson who also played on it. Her other two solo albums were entitled ’Spirit of St. Louis’ from 1981 and ’Another Breath’ from 1983. This song was written by Joe Strummer and Mick Jones of the Clash. Rumours say that Ellen was dating Mick Jones at the time he produced her album ’The Spirit Of St. Louis’ on which this track appeared.
