Claudja Barry: I, Claudja [Full Album, Expanded Version, Vol. 1] (1987)

Claudja Barry hailed from Jamaica, grew up in Canada and moved to London and onwards to Germany in the early 70s. She was cast as a member of Boney M. in 1975 but left the line-up when she met her future husband and producer Jürgen Korduletsch and embarked on a solo career. She released 5 LP’s on his Lollipop label between 1976 and 1980, her biggest hits being Sweet Dynamite and Boogie Woogie Dancin’ Shoes. A 6th LP If I Do It To You was planned for a release on Mirage Records in 1981 but was shelved. She had several successful 12“ releases over the following years before signing a deal with Epic Records in 1986. Her first single on the new label, Down And Counting, was #1 on the Billboard Dance Charts, but sadly a change of management meant that the momentum did not last, and the subsequent LP, I, Claudja and the follow-up singles were not as successful. Vol. 1: 00:00 A1. Down And Counting 04:13 A2. Can’t You Feel My Heart Beat 08:32 A3. Dance For Your Life 13:18 A4.
