Pachelbel - Chorale Preludes

Here is a collection of nine short Chorale Preludes by Johann Pachelbel, which I recorded in 2009 and 2010 on the small but wonderful Flentrop organ of De Bron, Nieuwegein, The Netherlands. Pachelbel’s organ music does not get as much exposure as it should. His chorale settings are more traditional and straightforward, less ingenious and ambitious than those by Buxtehude and (especially) Bach. But they are extremely well written, rewarding to play, and good to listen to - especially if you love chorales as much as I do ;-) One can understand why the great Bach genuinely admired Pachelbel’s art and took it as a starting point for his own organ composing. 00:20 Ach Gott vom Himmel, sieh darein (Setting 1) 01:57 Ach Gott vom Himmel, sieh darein (Setting 2) 08:09 Ach Herr, mich armen Sunder (Setting 1) 09:58 Ach Herr, mich armen Sunder (Setting 1) 14:26 Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr (Setting 1) 16:59 Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr (Setting 2) 21:05 Allein zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ 23:46 Herr Gott, dich loben alle wir 25:30 Ein’ feste Burg ist unser Gott
