⚠️Urgent! Santa Cruz is flooded! California is asking for a state of emergency!

Ahead of even stronger storms that could bring more flooding, mudslides and power outages, Governor Gavin Newsom asked President Biden to declare a state of emergency to help California respond to the storm. The National Weather Service and the Sheriff’s Office said flash flood warnings and evacuation orders were issued for some areas of Santa Cruz County due to heavy rain and flooding. According to the sheriff’s office, the heavy rains have caused water levels in the San Lorenzo River and Sowell Creek to rise dramatically. The evacuation report says people should leave the area immediately, the sheriff’s office said. Heavy flooding caused the Via del Sol bridge to collapse, cutting off one route to Browns Valley Road, a private one-lane artery that connects small communities in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the entire Bay Area, Sacramento Valley and Monterey Bay to account for future storms. #flashfloodsantacruz #weather #flood
