Jupiter Impact March 17th 2016

Exact time of impact: 00:18:45 UT. Video taken with an 11“ SCT with an ASI120mm camera and Ir-pass 742nm filter. Look to the right side of the planet at about 3 o’clock. This video shows an apparent impact on Jupiter. If you look to the right side of the planet you will notice a brief bright flash. This is suspected to be a comet or asteroid measuring in the tens of meters across. Even such a small object causes a huge energy release when it impacts Jupiter’s cloud tops, enough to be seen by amateur telesc
