Are you looking for a 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝? Depending on your height and unless you buy a floor standing drill press, finding a drill press stand for a benchtop model may be challenging. That is why I decided to build a homemade DIY drill press stand for my Harbor Freight Benchtop Drill-Press. Over the years, I have developed a simple formula for figuring out the best and most comfortable height for my workbenches, wheel grind, bandsaws, drill press, and other tools you operate while standing up. While this may not apply to a floor-standing drill press, it does apply to my Harbor Freight Benchtop Drill-Press. The belly button is the ideal height for many of these tools. For a workbench, I prefer three inches below that. That means that if you are between 5’4“ and 5’ 11“, you will have difficulty finding a drill press stand where you will not be looking up or hunching down while working. Why is that?
