Is This The Golden Age of Slice of Life?

Slice of life is one of my favorite genres in anime thanks in part to its huge variety of series. From cute girls doing cute things to iyashikei, slice of life has so much more to offer than many give it credit for. Summer 2016 has been a terrific time to be a fan of the genre with a handful of series that could stack up with the best, but is this the best the genre’s ever been? Today, I take a look back at the history of the genre, analyze the season’s best shows, and answer the question: Is this the golden age of slice of life?
