Full title reads: “Portsmouth. On Land and Sea ... instantly ready! By special permission of the Admiralty we present - for the first time - these interesting pictures taken at the Royal Naval Barracks.“ Portsmouth, Hampshire. Men of the British Royal Navy do drill / marching demonstration. Their marching display is meant to demonstrate how ships for convoys at sea. Sailors run from the barracks to form up in ranks on the parade ground. This exercise allows them to practice if the navy needs to launch in an emergency.
