Medical supplies from Russia arrived in New Delhi on Thursday to help India cope with the surge of COVID-19 cases.
Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) sent two Il-76 cargo planes loaded with coronavirus treatment drugs, ventilation equipment, oxygen supplies, and other medical equipment.
Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the COVID-19 aid on Wednesday in a phone call with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
India has seen a surge in coronavirus cases, with hospitals full and oxygen supplies hugely lacking.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the country has registered more than 17 million confirmed cases of coronavirus and more than 200,000 deaths with COVID-19, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
