NATO Secretary General Rutte says he is not afraid of Turkey joining BRICS -Now the BRICS summit is taking place in Kazan and NATO member country Turkey is attending. And as we know, Turkey also wants to apply for membership of BRICS, an organisation dominated by Russia. So should we be concerned? -We should not forget that Turkey is a very important ally in the alliance. It has some of the best-equipped armed forces in NATO. It plays a vital role in its part of NATO’s geography. It provides many opportunities for NATO as a whole. We know that Turkey is also working with some of the BRICS partners. They have a sovereign right to do so. NATO is very popular in Turkey, and Turkey is very popular in NATO.
