As the storm intensified, state officials warned residents of Northern California to stay off the roads. Officials have asked drivers to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary and stay informed by subscribing to updates from emergency workers about downed trees and power lines, as well as flooding. In Northern California, a 25-mile section of Highway 101 was closed between the cities of Trinidad and Auric due to several downed trees. The storm came days after a New Year’s Eve rainstorm led to the evacuation of people in rural Northern California and the rescue of several motorists from flooded roads.
