One of the most important aspects of a well-performed tummy tuck is recreating the belly button. If we look at patients who have had babies, you will notice that the belly button has certain characteristics. Excessive skin tends to fall over the belly button, negatively affecting it. The belly button also gets larger and, because of the amount of excess skin, shallower. In addition, many patients develop a umbilical hernia, which creates a bulge in the belly button that negatively impacts the overall aesthetic.
