In Full: Rishi Sunak statement after Supreme Court rules deportation policy unlawful

Rishi Sunak’s Rwanda plan was grounded on Wednesday as the UK’s Supreme Court ruled it was unlawful. The court’s five judges unanimously backed a judgement by the Court of Appeal that the policy was unlawful because of the “real risk” that asylum seekers sent to Rwanda would be returned to their own country where they could face “ill treatment” in breach of their human rights.
